This year is set to be the year for royal weddings. Three weddings are set to take place in 2023 – two in Jordan and one in Luxembourg. It is thought another wedding will take place in Norway this year, as well.

The first royal wedding of the year will take place in April when Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg marries French-born Nicolas Bagory. As is traditional in Luxembourg, the pair will have two ceremonies. The first civil ceremony will occur on 22 April at Luxembourg Town Hall. Their religious ceremony will occur at St. Tryomphe’s Church in Bormes-Les-Mimosas, France, on 29 April.

The pair announced their engagement in November 2022.

Born in 1988, Mr Bagouy grew up in Brittany, France, and studied classical literature and political sciences. He works in the creation of cultural and social projects.

The Crown Prince of Jordan is also set to wed on 1 June; however, the location has not yet been revealed. Crown Prince Hussein will marry Saudi-born Rajwa Khalid Alseif in a Muslim ceremony. More details are expected in due course.

Crown Prince Hussein’s engagement took place on 17 August in Saudi Arabia with several members of the Jordanian Royal Family in attendance. Rajwa Khaled bin Musaed bin Saif bin Abdulaziz Al Saif was born in Riyadh on 28 April 1994 to Khalid bin Musaed Al-Saif, a Saudi businessman, and Azza bint Naif Al-Sudairi. Upon her marriage, she will become the Crown Princess of Jordan.

The Crown Prince’s younger sister, Princess Iman, is also set to wed next year, although a date has not yet been announced. Queen Rania said in an interview in 2022 that the two weddings would occur within three to four months of each other.

Jameel Alexander Thermiotis was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1994 and is of Greek descent. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and is currently working in finance in New York.

There is another possible royal wedding in 2023. Princess Märtha Louise is engaged to American shaman Durek Verrett; the pair revealed their engagement on 7 June 2022. No date has been set for their wedding, but it is thought it will take place at some point in 2023.

The Princess, the daughter of King Harald and Queen Sonja, is no longer a working member of the Royal Family; she stepped down from that role in 2022. This was done in agreement with the King, Royal Family and Mr Verrett in order to allow her to live more independently and work with her business.

California-born Verrett has been the subject of racism in Norway, and when the Princess stepped back from her duties, the King issued a statement condemning the racism against his future son-in-law.
